Shame and applause preach the same sermon. One says you are your worst day. The other says you are your best room. Both make you the author of your name, and both collapse the moment the story changes. A Christian’s identity is not a mood and not a brand. It is a purchase.
Paul says you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body. The price was not silver. It was Christ. That ends the project of inventing yourself, and it ends the project of living as if your failures still own the title deed. The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God — not because we feel chosen on a good afternoon, but because God says so to people He redeemed. Belonging like that has a shape. A bought life is not lived as if it were still for sale to every craving.
When shame starts the old story, answer with the cross, not with a pep talk. When praise starts a new one, hand the glory back. You are not what you achieve or what you ruined. You are whose you are: His, at a price, and meant to live like it.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
The world told a story and I bought the lie
That I was forgotten, just passing on by
A collection of mistakes, a history of shame
Left out in the dark with no right to Your name
But the cross tells a story that echoes much louder
Reclaiming my worth by Your grace and Your power
[Verse 2]
I spent so many seasons trying to earn
The love that You gave before tables were turned
Stuck in the cycle of striving to be
Someone already made whole and made free
But You break the shackles of who I once was
And flood all my ruins with rivers of love
[Chorus]
You call me chosen, You call me clean
You say I am treasured, a child of the King
No longer defined by the scars or the fall
I'm standing up tall at the sound of Your call
The past has no hold, and the enemy fails
'Cause I know Whose I am, and Your promise prevails!
[Verse 3]
Now fear has no whisper that catches my ear
The ghost of my failures can't touch me out here
I'm clothed in Your mercy, I'm breathing Your light
An heir to the kingdom, secure in Your sight
The old has departed, the new has begun
The battle is finished, the victory is won
[Bridge]
I am who You say I am (Chosen and loved)
I stand where You say I stand (Wash'd in the blood)
No weapon against me can stand in the light
'Cause I am a victor in Jesus's might!
[Chorus]
You call me chosen, You call me clean
You say I am treasured, a child of the King
No longer defined by the scars or the fall
I'm standing up tall at the sound of Your call
The past has no hold, and the enemy fails
'Cause I know Whose I am, and Your promise prevails!
[Outro]
I know Whose I am...
A child of the King...
Yeah, Your promise prevails.
