Spirit and I is the musical project of Steven, a songwriter based in the Columbus, Ohio area. He approaches music with the same intentionality and patience he brings to his woodworking and crafts—building something meaningful, piece by piece.
Driven by a sense of calling, Steven began this project despite having no formal background in music. Through a collaborative process using Google Gemini to help craft the lyrics and Suno to generate the music—including the vocals, which are AI-generated rather than from human singers—he works to direct these tools toward a singular focus: giving glory to God. He views any success in these songs as a testament to Jesus, not himself.
The intent behind this project is to help modern listeners engage with biblical stories in a fresh way, revealing that these ancient narratives are as relevant today as they have ever been. While Steven has worked diligently to ensure theological depth and accuracy, he remains humble, noting that any oversights are his own. Ultimately, his goal is to offer enjoyable music that inspires sincere worship and praise for our God.
When he is not writing music, Steven and his wife enjoy taking in the local sights, tackling creative projects, and sharing a quiet, slow-paced life alongside their two Boston Terriers.
