Control feels like maturity. We clutch the outcome we think will finally let us rest — the money, the health, the people, the plan — and when it slips, peace slips with it. We call the fear "being responsible." Often it is a quieter idol: I will be my own god of tomorrow, and I will not be okay until I can guarantee it.
Asaph nearly lost his faith watching wicked people prosper. What brought him back was not a tighter strategy. It was this: nevertheless I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. The Lord does not offer vague company. Through Isaiah He tells His people He holds their right hand, He helps them, and fear is not the last word. Our choices still matter. His grip matters more. Christian freedom is not getting control back. It is walking while already held.
Lay down the idol of a life you can fully secure. Obey what you already know is right, and leave the afterward to Him. He guides, and He receives His people to glory. You were never meant to carry tomorrow in a closed fist.

[Verse 1]
I held the pen with a heavy grip
I watched the ink and the pages slip
I tried to build on a floor of sand
With a tired heart and a shaking hand
The more I tried to take the leed
The more I felt a hollow need
It was a weight I could never bear
To find a peace that wasn't there
[Chorus]
The plan is fixed but I am free
It's Your power and my liberty
I take the step, You hold the line
The choice is mine, the heart is Thine
No man can break, no hand can move
The life You've started now to prove
I choose the Hand that's holding me
[Verse 2]
They tried to stop what You began
To sabotage the Master's plan
They tried to rewrite every line
To take the soul that You call Thine
But they don't know the ink is dry
That Grace is seated far too high
You shut the gates that lead to fall
You are the wall around it all
[Verse 3]
I'm dropping the pen and letting go
To find the grace in "yes" and "no"
You were the fire and the flood
You were the mercy and the blood
Now I can see the blessings bloom
Inside the small and quiet room
I'm finally safe and finally still
Within the center of Your will
[Bridge]
It's not a cage, it's a covering
It's not a script, it's a sheltering
The more I give, the more I find
The peace of a surrendered mind
[Chorus]
The plan is fixed but I am free
It's Your power and my liberty
I take the step, You hold the line
The choice is mine, the heart is Thine
No man can break, no hand can move
The life You've started now to prove
I choose the Hand that's holding me
[Outro]
You hold the line
I take the step
You hold the hand
