We talk about "giving God our heart" as if it were a mood we offer when the music is right, and take back when the week gets hard. Scripture is more concrete. Wisdom says, my son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. The heart and the eyes travel together. You do not yield the center and keep looking wherever you like. David, after wrecking his life, does not promise God a better performance from the old heart. He asks God to create a clean one.
The idol is partial surrender. We want His help, His comfort, His name, and we reserve the right to rule desire, money, and resentment. He already sees the heart. Consecration is not informing Him of something He missed. It is handing over what He owns, including the parts that are bruised and the parts we are proud of. A clean heart is His work. A yielded heart is our answer to that work: obedience, not a speech.
Stop offering Him a visit. Give Him the loyalties you have been managing alone. Ask Him to create what you cannot scrub clean, and then watch your eyes. What you keep looking at will tell you whether the heart actually moved.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
You are the King upon the throne,
Whether I bow or stand alone.
The heavens declare Your majesty,
Across the endless galaxy.
The rivers hum a quiet song,
They know exactly where they belong.
And if my lips were to close up tight,
The very stones would cry out in the night.
[Chorus]
But still, what mercy You display,
You wait for me to find the way.
You wait for the small throne of my heart,
To be yielded freely, every part.
You are Lord of Lords, forever true,
So here is my heart, I give it to You.
[Verse 2]
It isn't perfect, it's bruised and worn,
A little battered, a little torn.
But here it is, Lord, in Your hands,
Guided by Your gentle commands.
Take the highest seat inside of me,
And rule my spirit eternally.
[Bridge]
Teach me to live as one who belongs,
To the Maker of the stars, the writer of songs.
Whether I crown You or not, You reign,
But I choose to yield, I choose Your name.
[Big Chorus]
Oh, still, what mercy You display,
You wait for me to find the way!
You wait for the small throne of my heart,
To be yielded freely, every part!
You are Lord of Lords, forever true,
So here is my heart, I give it to You!
